Dominica wedding - let the dream come thrue
If you’re an adventurous couple who are looking for more in a wedding destination than just relaxing on the beach, come to Dominica. The "Nature Island" of the Caribbean, it is largely rural, uncrowded and unspoiled. It is a non-tourist destination, full of activities for divers, hikers, naturalists and anyone else who wants to explore a wild setting. The highest mountains in the Eastern Caribbean hide rainforests, waterfalls, boiling lakes and hundreds of rivers. Journey deep into the wilderness to find a beautiful waterfall, and get married right at the water’s edge. You won’t believe you’re actually having your wedding in this wonderful place! Mist rises over a crater lake created by past volcanic activity, and this unique spot can be the site of your one of a kind wedding. Another location to say "I Do" is ocean side on one of Dominica’s beaches. The mountainous interior creates a stunning contrast to the flat beach and wide ocean. Exchange vows as the sun slips behind the great peaks and sparkles on the blue waters. There's no more beautiful place to tie the knot than Dominica. And with recent changes in legislation, it's now easier to 'tie the knot' in Dominica. The easiest way to get married is to apply for a Special Marriage Licence. The application forms can be obtained from (and when completed are returned to) the Ministry of Community Development, located in the Government Headquarters on Hillsborough St. The application form G must be signed by both parties and witnessed by a Magistrate. The completed Declaration form must be signed by both parties before a Commissioner of Oath. Stamps to the value of EC$7.50 must be affixed to the form. At least one member of the party must be resident in Dominica for 2 days prior to the application; a passport must be produced for inspection. Birth Certificates must be presented; Baptismal certificates are not accepted. A non-marriage certificate must be presented to ensure that applicants have never been married. To receive a non-marriage certificate present at the Registry a Baptismal and Birth Certificate. If married before a party must present a Decree of Divorce, or the Death Certificate of the former spouse. A license fee of EC$300 must be paid on submission of the above listed documents; personal cheques are not accepted). Both the Registry office and the Magistrates Court are located on the Bayfront in Roseau. Visitors can come to Dominica, apply for banns, and after publication in church for three Sundays, can be married. Visitors can also apply for banns and can be married in court.
